KAMPALA MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

In 2022, Kampala Counseling Services launched an impactful mental health awareness campaign aimed at educating the people of Uganda about the challenges they face in relation to mental health and promoting access to professional help. The campaign involved various activities, including collaborations with media houses and offering free mental health assessments to the public. Through these efforts, KCS sought to raise awareness about the growing need for mental health services in the country and give back to the people of Uganda.

The project was accomplished with the invaluable support of dedicated volunteers and encompassed a range of activities that included:

  • Engaging With Media

As part of the mental health awareness campaign, Kampala Counseling Services actively engaged with media outlets to reach a wider audience and deliver crucial information about mental health. Collaborations with popular platforms such as Radiocity 97FM provided a platform to hold talk shows, interviews, and discussions focused on mental health topics. These media engagements aimed to break the silence surrounding mental health issues, challenge stigmas, and empower individuals to seek professional support.

  • Free Mental Health Assessments

Understanding the importance of early intervention and assessment, Kampala Counseling Services organized free mental health assessments for individuals who took the initiative to book an appointment. These assessments were conducted by qualified professionals and offered an opportunity for participants to gain insights into their mental well-being and receive initial guidance. These assessments, Kampala Counseling Services aimed to remove barriers to access and highlight the importance of proactive mental health care.
